Ian Leitch of Perth Strathtay Harriers has kindly forwarded to us a message from Alasdair Donaldson, the Athletics Development Manager for SportTayside & Fife.

The full text is below but in summary what's on offer is free first aid  training.

If you are interested in taking advantage of this opportunity, I suggest that you make contact with Alasdair directly (details below) and indicate what times would suit you.

Message reads:

Hi all

It is a general requirement of coaching licenses that coaches have a valid and up to date first aid qualification.  It is also a condition of the clubmark scheme that you have access to a first aider at all club training sessions (while at facilities this will be covered by facility staff if you are out in the fields/parks then it is the coach/parent/helper who should be covered).  As such we are putting on a First Aid Training course for club members.  The course is 4 days in duration and then covers you for 3 years - after that you would require to do a short refresher course each three years to keep up your qualification.

Ordinarily this course would cost you £150 per person but SportTayside & Fife are putting on these courses for coaches and will cover the full cost (normally £150/head)

The course can be done over weekends or a number of evenings and can take up to 12 weeks; so basically it is fully flexible to meet the needs of volunteers. Below are a series of possible dates which our First aid trainer can do.  Can you please indicate what would suit yourselves.  It may be that we run two courses to cover a number of sports so do not worry if people from your club have different availability.

A total of 24 hours contact time is required.  Available dates:

March 13th, 14th, 15th

March 20th,21st, 22nd

March 27th, 28th, 29th

April 3rd, 4th, 5th,

April 10th, 11th, 12th,

April 17th,18th,19th,

April 24th, 25th or 26th

These dates are Friday, Saturday, Sunday dates - the Friday's can be 5:30pm - 9:30pm. Please indicate whether you would like Fridays Saturdays or Sundays on your reply and we will try and fit to meet most people's needs. We will then communicate to you what best suits the most parties.

If you have any further questions do not hesitate to get in touch.

Regards

Alasdair
