Please see the message passed on to us below about the opportunity to obtain a UK Coaching Certificate. If you'd like to go on the course, please book directly as described, but also let Liz know as I think the club would want to help with the cost.
....................
Hi all
I am now pleased to confirm that there will be a UKCC Level 1 course taking place in Arbroath this May. The UKCC Level 1 is a two day course, with the two days split by supported practice back in the club/local authority environment. Both days of the course will take place at the Saltire Leisure Centre in Arbroath.
Day 1 will be on Saturday 2nd May
Day 2 will be on Saturday 30th May
There will then be a further half day assessment session, date(s) to be confirmed later.
In terms of the costs of the course please see the info below - it should not be difficult to reach the criteria for anyone wishing to go onto the course so that they can take up/advance coaching.
To book onto this course please contact Anne Stewart int he Scottish Athletics office. Anne is currently on Annual leave but will return on Wednesday 18th March so please contact her after this time. It is important that if you have anyone who would like to access this course that you try and get booked on as soon as you can. In order to secure the funding now available it is only possible to deliver a finite number of courses across Scotland so there will be limited opportunities to access Level 1 coach education - as such its necessary to take the opportunities when they become available locally.
If you have any other questions then please feel free to get in touch. Please circulate around the relevant people within your own clubs/organisations.
Regards
Alasdair
Coaches in Scotland can access financial support with the cost of UKCC Coach Education Qualifications. The cost of the new Level One course, which replaces the former UKA course, is £235.00. However this cost can be reduced to £80.00 for those who meet the following criteria: Be or become a member of scottishathletics as a coach. This is free of charge. Forms are available from anne.stewart@scottishathletics.org.uk
ave undertaken an Enhanced Disclosure Scotland Check through their club or via Scottish Athletics Ltd. Checks can be carried out through your club welfare officer. If you do not have one, please contact ewenc@scottishathletics.org.uk e resident in Scotland and coaching within either a club affiliated to scottishathletics or within a local authority which works with scottishathletics in an LAP or Sports Partnership. Coaching licenses will not be issued unless the Enhanced Disclosure Scotland Check has been completed as a coach. Checks are also free of charge to all volunteers. To book onto a course, you must contact Anne Stewart for an application form, at 0131 476 7328 or anne.stewart@scottishathletics.org.uk

I don't really know Ali, but the message seems to suggest that such opportunities will be infrequent.
Maybe Anne Stewart could tell you more?
