Wild weather but a warm reception on CollIan and I went across for the Coll half marathon on Saturday. This involved a 4.30am start to get the 7am ferry from Oban.
We arrived on lovely Coll to find a very friendly and well supported event. However it was blowing a strong wind as we set our tents up which was a sign of things to come. No we didnt overdose on baked beans !
The race started at 3pm and followed a course aroud the island in a clockwise direction. There were 12 water stations and great enthusiasm all round the course which was great. 2 HBT guys immediately disappeared into the distance leaving the rest of us to contend for the lesser places.
About 4pm the predicted rain started which when combined with the already strong wind made the last 3 miles very tough. The course was very undulating but beautiful.
Ian overcame some gastric emptying issues to come in in about 95 min and I snuck in front of the 1st woman to finish 3rd in 90.30min.
Then we had to content with torrential rain and a great Ceildh.
All in all a great trip but shame about the weather.

Sounds like a good one. Weather pretty much sums up this summer's weather patterns!

Allan - Phil encouraged me to eat a full Scottish breakfast on the boat. At the time I thought he was looking after me, but having read your comments I'm no longer so sure...
Funniest moment of the weekend was when Phil spotted Don Naylor in the ferry terminal at Oban, and realised all his club championship points had just disappeared out the window
My sad and sorry tale can be found here on my blog:
