Social Activities - SURVEYHi all,
Now that I’ve been railroaded into position of ‘Social Secretary’ (I’m still not sure what that means exactly) I will attempt a social activities survey, whereby I’ll put up an idea and you vote to say whether you’re interested or not. (I’m regretting this already!).
So, should be two related topics on the forum. One to vote for my suggestions and another for you to post an activity that you would like to do with other SH club members.
I am only doing this via the forum. Please do not write to say that some people don’t look at the forum and I should write to them or knock on their door and ask their opinion. The answer is no! I refuse!.....The forum is the ideal way of letting everyone know what is happening and is available to everyone on an equal basis. If you know someone who doesn’t look at the forum, but might be interested in an event, I’d be very grateful if you could tell them and give them the details, thanks!
All dates, times etc will be arranged and advertised at appropriate time. Where possible, I’ll suggest a month....You’ll see when you read.
Please just list YES to the events you may be interested in.
No. 1. Run from Turret Dam to Comrie for BBQ at my house – (perhaps at beginning of August or September).
No. 2. Club race night at Xtreme Karting – Larbert Click here - http://www.xtremekarting.co.uk/Index.stm
Followed by Chinese meal in the ‘Red Lion’ Chinese Restaurant, Larbert – Click here - http://www.redlion-hotel.co.uk/red_lion_restaurant.asp
Total cost per person approx £50 ( Possibly October?...Anytime really)
No. 3. Rock Wall Climbing at Morrisons Academy (courtesy of Lawrence & Wendy). Followed by meal & drinks in the Turret. All welcome to the meal & drinks if you don’t want to do the climbing first.
A Friday night that suits Lawrence & Wendy.
No. 4. ‘Go Ape’ at Aberfoyle - http://www.goape.co.uk/ContentArt...;gclid=COHg1ceExZQCFRSO1QodLXZMFw
This is fun!....Trust me!..you’re perfectly safe. You can bring the kids if they’re 10 or over.
We could do a block booking for just us in one group. Check the web site for details.
No. 5. Ceilidh night in British Legion, with Buffet.
No. 6. Not so much a social thing, but, a ‘Santa Run’ for a local charity. In December.
Very much a fun run as a group through streets of Crieff dressed in Santa suits collecting donations as we go. Ending up somewhere for lunch.
That is enough for now.
I haven’t included the Golf day at St.Fillans as I’m hoping Simon will continue to arrange this. I know everybody really enjoyed it in previous years and as I don’t know one end of a golf racquet from the other, Simon is by far the best person to organise it. (Please Simon!).
Further information:- The annual Club Dinner will either be January 24th or 31st. Full details of which will advertised in due course.
Personally, I thank all of you who have (misguided) trust in me to carry out the function of social secretary, I will do my very best. However, I am involved in many other things as well and it is impossible to please everybody. So, I apologise in advance for any upset or mistakes.
Please take time to vote on No.1 to No.6 above and feel free to make your own suggestions on the ‘Social Activities – What do YOU want?’ topic .
Many thanks again!

Yes to 1 and 3 for me.

Also 1 and 3 for me too.
I would also suggest we try to arrange another handicap race soon which we could use as another excuse for a barbie. Especially, if we can get the keys to the Rugby Club pavilion as has been offered.
Also, how about a pub quiz one night, perhaps later in the year when we could coincide it with a Wednesday night Crieff run?

Great ....Thank you!
What Wednesday night Crieff run?

I was thinking of later in the year when we revert back to our winter schedule of just one mid-week run on Weds at 6pm in Crieff. But no reason why we couldn't do a pub quiz event anytime though...

Well done for all the good ideas, George. My vote goes to 1 and 3. I'd also be keen to do another handicap race and like the idea of a pub quiz.
Also, would anyone be keen to try orienteering sometime? Could either try to arrange a special event locally or go to one of the local events run by the Tayside club (don't worry Phil & Liz - we'd choose a nicer area than Mill of Fortune!!). Fran or I could give some tips about what to do, as it can be quite complicated to choose a course and get started. Let me know if interested. I've also put a post on the race calendar with a link to details of a long orienteering course on 3 August in the Ochils if you're interested.

Well done George. Looks like a busy social calander.
My votes would be for 1 and 3.

Yep, 1 and 3 are looking good to me too, and might be persuaded by 5 and 6. Especially 5 if it meant getting my husband into a kilt
Cathy, I'd like to do some orienteering just as a chance to practice my (crappy) walk navigation skills. If anyone out there wants to go VERY slowly round an orienteering course as a practice exercise in walking navigation, let me know.
On the social front, I really enjoyed the Turret-Foulford run we did and it would be great to do some more runs in different locations / further afield. I'm happy to volunteer as a co-driver for this.
Cheers,
Kona

Well done for the varied ideas. I'm also up for 1 and 3 too, which keeps it simpler given the majority of responses. Not just because I do what I'm told, I like Cathy's idea of pub quiz too!

Hi George,
No 1, 3, 5 and 6 all sound good. Of course no 3 especially depends how long it takes for my collar bone to heal.
Great job George.

Thanks for putting so much thought into this.
1, 3 and 5 sound good to me although nearer Christmas I might be pursuaded to do a Santa run
Thanks again.

HI there Mr social sec I almost feel embarrassed about writing on the web page having not been in touch for such a long time. I am back to some form of fitness but nothing like before - physio and 'low' key' sports (what ever that is) for a wee while more.
Anyway it would be great to get back in touch; a climbing session I’m sure Lawrence and I could arrange.
Hope you're all well and enjoying the running. x

Hello well as usual the climbing wall is busy; however Lawrence and I are free on the Fri 28th Nov or Fri 12th Dec. It would be climbing from 5-7pm-ish.
To cover the costs of the hall, equipment and instruction etc £6 per person (humour and humiliation will be thrown in for free...)
Hope that these will be suitable for a good group to get together. please get in touch with george asap so we can book the hall.
I really enjoyed it last year and so did those who came along.
Will text you as well George just to make sure you get this.
