Perth 10kSunday 31st saw four Harriers running in the rain in Perth on a flat but slightly odd new route from Perth Grammar up the Tay, along the Almond, back down to North Inch, across the golf course and back up to the school.
Prasad Prasad won the race in 33 mins something, and my very approximate recall of Harriers times is:
Will Manners 37 something
Ian Beattie 41 something
Angela Mackenzie 42.30 ish
Gordon Morrison 43.08
Patrick O'Kane finished just ahead of Will.
Congratulations to Angela for winning a prize - I think it was either for being the fastest local woman or for being third fastest woman overall - not entirely clear about that.
In its new guise the Perth 10k was a pleasant enough run in the rain, starting and finishing on a nice new track in a nice new stadium, but unfortunately other aspects of the race left a bit to be desired, such as distance markers (there were none), race route map (couldn't find one online or at the venue) and toilets (only one wc for men, probably something similar for women judging by the queues).
Afterwards it was rather disconcerting to hear from other runners the (gps -based) suggestion that the course distance was incorrect, and that most runners had in fact run an extra 100m or so.
Anyway, plenty of scope for next year's race to be even better!

Perth 10KHey great news Gordon. I should be able to reduce my 10K time by 9.5 seconds or so next year, depending on wind direction of course ................
