Monday Morning End of Term Run - 15th December

Hello Monday runners (and any other harriers who are around that day and want to join us),

Due to the success of the end of summer's term run and lunch, I have organised another end of term run on the 15th December.

The run will start from the Sheriffmuir Inn, head out along the road for 1.5 miles to Harperstone farm, bear right onto a landrover track over the fields and up a steady climb to a wee hill with a cairn at the top called Mickle Corum (594m). Then return the same way. It is 7 miles and even with our various stops and social discussions we shouldn't be out longer than 2 hours.

The Sheriffmuir Inn doesn't open until 12noon so I think I will book lunch for 12.15.

I think we should meet at Taylor Park at the usual time (9.15) in order to share cars and drive up to the Inn.

Please bring some warm clothes as Al and I were up there last Saturday and it does get very chilly to say the least - worth it though as the views are fab!

I have arranged with the Inn that we can have a choice of 2 courses off the Xmas menu + coffee and shortbread for £16.50 i.e either a starter + main OR main + sweet. This is a good deal I think as the food is fantastic.

This is the menu:

Leek of Potato Soup
Rillette of Smoked Salmon with Watercress Mayo
Indian Spiced Aubergine, Mint Yoghurt + Chilli Onion

Roast Turkey on Winter Champ with Trad Trimmings
Braised Beef in a Rich Red Wine Sauce with Mash
Baked Supreme of Salmon with a Parmesan + Pesto Topping
Leek, Almond + Saffron Risotto with Manchego Cheese

Xmas Pud + Brandy Cream
Choc Brownie + Cinnamon Ice Cream
Dunlop Cheddar + Biscuits

Coffee + Shortbread

Thinking about this will get you up the hill!

I need to book the size of table so could I have definate confirmations asap.

Hope as many folk as possible can come.

Kaz.

I should be there, and so should Patrick (in his brand new Harriers jacket Smile.
Yum, looking forward to it.  Who ever thought a running club was such a great excuse for hedonism? Smile

Very Happy I'll be there .... Not sure if I should bring Lara?...was there many sheep on the route Kaz?

Here is an approximate of the route (not sure where the 'land rover' track is) :-

Hi George,

That is pretty much the route, but there is a track that goes around the base of the little hill which saves you from an extra wee climb and drop.

I have a map which I will bring.

End of term run 15th December

Just confirming I'll be there - and I've also drugged my wife (Judith) into coming too.  Assuming the run doesn't cause her to suffer palpitations of the wallet, she'll join SH too once the Sheriffmuir Inn has restored her calorie count.

On this basis, will Tippings (né, née ou femme familiale - or fatale) become the most numerous clan in the club (this not necessarily being a wholesomely good thing, of course.....)?

Duely noted, Colin - will inform the restaurant tomorrow.

Had an unexpectedly great time this morning battling wind, snow, slush, uphills, downhills, wild animals (OK, one of those isn't true) at Sheriffmuir in the fun company of Allie, George, Kaz, Kona, Liz, Seonaid, Wendy and the most recent SH recruit - my wife, Judith. Lunch afterwards at the excellent Sheriffmuir Inn where miraculously the calories taken in by each of us exactly matched the calories we used during the run!  Thanks to Kaz for organising it.

Since the FAQs seem to say I can't attach pics to this posting, the evidence is available on request to tanconsult@btinternet.com.  I'll send them anyway to any of you whose email address I already have.
