Inverness half marathon

3 harriers braved the snow blizzards and headed north at the weekend for Sunday's Inverness half marathon.  On a cold and difficult day for running (and even colder for spectating - well done Alison and Liz), Phil Tipping was first harrier home in 1.26.21 (69th).  I scraped under the hour and a half with a time of 1.29.39 (109th), and Beth Fotheringham finished in 2.10.22 (905th).  As the A9 was closed at the time we were leaving Inverness, I made the call (wrongly as it turned out) that a better option was to take the long route via Aberdeen - adding around 100 miles and 2 hours to our journey home.  Despite that it was a first class weekend.  It was my 15th Inverness half marathon in the last 16 years, and my 84th altogether.  There haven't been many in poorer conditions.

Well done guys.

It was incredibly awful weather on Sunday as I too was braving the elements getting a few more miles on the WHW in the snow - let's hope it isn't like that come April 25th!

My only consolation was that I was in my waterproofs whereas you guys will have been in minimal racing kit -BRRRRRR!

Hope you are not too achy today.

Inverness half

Although I signed up for this weeks ago I'm afraid I chickened out in the end as just hadnt got the miles in beforehand. So congratulations to all who braved it.
However to assuage my guilt I was the token Strathearn Harrier  at the 'wee county harriers' Gartmorn 6 race on Sunday. I was so thankful my usual run on mondays is through snow, mud & all weathers as we squelched & slid our way around this course.I felt quite at home in all that mud ! But the best bit was the spread afterwards !  Yummy ! A small, friendly wee race I'd recommend & not too far away.
Plodding Fiona.

Hi Phill,

Sorry, only just saw your post. Ran 17 on Sat and 12 on Sunday. Just loooove the roots between Beinn Glaas and Inversnaid!!!!! That will be fun after 35!

Off again to exlore some more tomorrow - roll on taper time! Well done on half Marathon and good luck for the Edinburgh - Glasgow and back or is it the other direction?

Kaz
