Great Wilderness Challenge run - opportunity for Harriers

Dear all

I have a place on the 25-mile GWC event on Saturday 23 August. I'll either be taking a car up, or liftsharing with pals from Forth Valley Orienteers.  We'd be able to fit in a harrier or two as the GWC organisers have let me know there are still some places left on the 13-mile event and, although technically 'full', they could squeeze a couple of good fundraisers onto the 25-miler if any harriers are interested!! This is a sponsored event for Children 1st; CLIC Sargent; Highland Hospice and Birchwood Highland. So, if anyone is keen, and confident of raising a few hundred £ for these causes (I believe £100 min), I've been asked that you please contact patgwc@onetel.com who will send you an entry form, and also mention Cathy's or my name so Pat knows how this has come about.

According to the brochure, it's a "mountain expedition running through the remote, exposed interior of the Fisherfield-Letterewe Forests in Wester Ross" (allegedly very near to where Digby got lost on his recent holiday - perhaps a candidate for Cath's orienteering training!?). For race details, check out GWC website:

Scarily for me, it will be the furthest I've run in one go, so little chance I'll be doing the W Highland Way anytime soon. For anyone not able to run but keen to support, I would welcome any sponsorship pledges you feel able to make (dflint@dflint.force9.co.uk). Thanks.

If you do get an entry for the 23rd please let me know if you need a lift.

cheers
Doug
