Cambuslang 10k????? Any News

Hi Folks,

Any news on Angela's sub 40 challenge yesterday at Cambuslang?
AngelaMac

Hi Alan

Miles from sub 40 - did 43.16  Crying or Very sad felt didn't get enough training in as was ill at beginning of december, and was left with chesty cough.  But never mind, I been out last few days and running much better!  It's a hard time of year to avoid all the bugs and it's so cold too!

How's your training going? Still doing bishopbiggs?

Happy New Year!  Did little Liam have a nice christmas?

Hard lines Angela, I think everyone caught the bug in december it passed around our house too.  I still have a sore throat.  How was the race anyway would it be an achievable sub 40 fitness permitting?

I am not doing the Bishopbriggs 10k as I am going to really prepare as I am quite far away from the sub 40 level.  Instead I am going to commit to the grangemouth 10k 29/03/09 and fit in 12 weeks of weekly speedwork at the local club- that way I will be sure I will get the sub 40.

Liam's first christmas was brill- we had him dressed up in a santa babygrow it was excellent, although long lies and xmas morning runs were out of the question.

How was Amber did she get to much stuff now you don't know where to put it?

Think the Cambuslang 10 k should be good for a fast time, but with really cold conditions and the chance you are likely to have a cold at some point on your training - then it's just not a good time of year.

I am going to do bishops just cause I'vev entred, but I think your right to aim at Grangmouth - I hope to do that one too as it's meant to be good but there's always a big field and some fab runners!

Amber and Alex got that much stuff we're going to have a clear out of the old toys to the charity shop!!  Just too many things to play with.  Think next year we'll get a Wii as my brother in law brought his round and we all have a fab time with it including Alex who's nearly 4 yrs, he loved the maro cars.  Amber was just happy to play with the boxes and cardboard!

Good luck with your training and I hope to see you at Grangemouth, but keep me informed as to how your doing!

Cheers

bishopbriggs 10K

Hi Alan

thought I better tell you how I did on Saturday at the 10K.   Rolling Eyes

Not good! only 42 min 33 sec..... my excuse is I haven't been doing any speed work and I just aint fast enough!! Sad

I reached half way in over 22 mins, so I did run the 2nd half in 20 mins!! just the first 5 K I was not good enough at Exclamation

Hopefully as the weather gets better and I do my speed work every week, I'll start to improve.

Hope your training is going well!

Cheers

Angela

Thats great Angala, 20mins for the 2nd half some speed work and pacing and there will be no stopping you.

I'm back in training a typical week is -:
sun- 9mile (fast 1mins 2nd half)
mon- med pace 5 mile

wed- fast 2mins 1 min rec (9)
thur-Hills

how is your schedule looking- is the Grangemouth challenge on?

I didnt see your name in the Nigel Barge results.   Hows Amber's teething any teeth yet.  Liam took his first steps this week!!

Grangemouth

Alan

Just printed the Granagemouth entry form off tonight, would have entred online but forgot my SAL no.!

WEll I'm glad your traing well, I've just got the cold Crying or Very sad think just lack of sleep and then Devils burden and the cold going round the family - was never going to manage to miss it.

But anyway hope to start some hard speed sessions once I'm better - hopefully this weekend - like todo the 5 mile speed thing at weekend with the harriers.

Amber has now got 6 teeth and they just keep coming  - that's 5 since xmas day! more chance I'll do a sub 40 min when she's going to school Laughing

Liams doing well, wont be long and he'll be one! hope I'll see him at Granagemouth - Amber's a big girl and her legs couldn't hold her yet - she's nearly crawling and it's only next week she's one.  But I'm not rushing her as I can put her on the floor and know she's not going anywhere yet!

I think a great race might be Kinross 10K - it's boring but flat and fast.  But hopefully granagmouth will be the first of many, thou think it will be hard if loads of runnners to get good start.

Best of luck with your training!

Keep in touch

Angela
