Anyone for cross country? The entry forms have arrived for the National Masters Cross Country Championships, which take place at Irvine on Saturday 7 February. I'm planning to do it - anyone fancy joining me? Cross country is great fun, honestly To be eligible as a Master you have to be 35 or older, and to take part you also need to be a member of Scottish Athletics (which you can join for £13 a year). The men's race is 10km and the women's is 6.4km.
The entry forms need to be returned by 24 January, so if you are interested please let me know by 20 January at the latest. I'll need your Scottish Athletics membership number and your date of birth, as well as the £4.50 entry fee.
Also, a bit of advance notice: the 2009 National Cross Country Championships take place at Falkirk on Saturday 21 February. This is open to all ages although once again you need to be a Scottish Athletics member to take part. It would be great to get a good turn out of Harriers for this - it is a fantastic event to take part in. 12 km for men and 8km for women. Please put the date in your diary!

Cross CountryI am keen to do one of the events but cannot do both. It would be good to have a good turnout at the Scottish X Ctry Champs, but if this is looking unlikely I am more interested in the Masters event on Sat 7th Feb (note date). Any thoughts folks?

So far, the following are definites for the National Masters XC at Irvine on Saturday 7 Feb:
Ian Beattie
Gordon Morrison
Phil Tipping
Will, are you up for it? If so I need your DoB and SA membership number, as well as £4.50. Can you email the details to me:
ianbeattie1@hotmail.co.uk
Anyone else? It is a minimum of 4 for a team (although we can still compete if there are less than 4 - it just means we don't qualify as a counting team).
