Six of us set off to go past the Distillery, around Ochtertyre, up to Puddocks pond and back down Laggan Hill. Beth was on her first club run since February(!?!) and Bain was welcomed back after many years, having previously been a Harrier in his teens.
Nikki wasn't feeling great so she and Beth branched off at Ochtertyre, leaving Jim, James, Bain and me to complete the circuit.
Coming off Laggan Hill a thundery downpour drenched us but it was warm rain and after a while you can't get any wetter, can you?

Gordon, now you're just showing off! My legs are still sore/recovering from Sunday, and there you are gadding about as if nothing happened. At least I've put my 4lbs back on, and might be out for a run tomorrow evening, if Cath/kids allow.

Doug, to compound the felony, you'll be pleased to hear that I competed in the Killin International Highland Games Hill Race today!
On the ground that meant a run up and down Sron a Chlachan (521m) behind the village, in the rain, but it was a very enjoyable wee race, perhaps 3 miles or so, with 400m of climb.
I happened to be visiting my parents in Killin, spotted that there was a hill race on at the Highland Games, and thought I'd have a go, half expecting to be the one (old but regular) hill runner among a bunch of tourists and locals.
How wrong I was!
It was a very small race but the lineup included a number of well known faces, including 2 Scottish internationals. Colin Donnelly won in 23 minutes something, I think Steve Fallon was second, and I managed 30.15, in perhaps 10th place (a bit hard to tell, since everything was a bit wet, including the paper on which finishing times were being recorded!)
But it was a fine half hour exertion, well organised, free to enter and with a terrific goody bag including a t-shirt, lots of food and drink, and a voucher for a meal at the Real Food Cafe in Tyndrum. So something of a result really, only slightly marred by the fact that I cant use it as a Joker! |

Gordon - you can only imagine my 'delight' (?!) at this news of your further exploits in comparison to my own slovenly post Ochil 2000s recuperation period. If you keep going at this rate, the 'former leg-2 dream team' for the Comrie Hills relay could be at an end, as I'll never be able to keep up with you!
Begs the question whether your performance at Killin is an indication of 'burnout' (!?).
Keep up the enviable and impressive effort...
D
