OK. We've got a definite date for the pub quiz jointly organized with the Royal British Legion Golf Section. It will be on Saturday 14th November at 7.30pm. £10 for teams of 4. If you'd like to take part please let me have your tenner and team list no later than Sunday 1st November. Feel free to make up your team from non-Harriers if you wish although there are some limits on space so it'll be done on a first come first served basis.

We will also be looking to have a raffle during the quiz so would welcome any contributions of prizes that you can find, beg, borrow or steal or even buy for the purpose. If you can bring something, please can you let me know as soon as possible so we can get an idea of what to expect.

All proceeds of the quiz and raffle will go to pancreatic cancer research so you can be sure your generosity will be in a good cause!

Phil - sadly we will not be able to make it  Sad as we are aware for Will's dad's 80th birthday weekend away in Yorkshire.

Please put us down for a raffle prize though - we will provide a bottle of spirits of some description!

R-Pix, that's brilliant, thanks for the offer of a bottle for the raffle.

It just occurred to me that there may be some Harriers who would like to come along and be part of the quiz but won't get around to forming a team. If that's you, then let me know or post on the forum. That way we can put you in touch with teams who are in search of a 4th member or put you in touch with others to form your own.

So far we have 3 teams entered...looking for 10!!!

J&I will certainly come - and stick some money in the kitty (meoooooow).  I'm happy to be part of a team if anyone's especially desperate for a fourth; J will be team support (unless anyone more persuasive than me can get her to join in).

Colin  Very Happy

There's been a good response so far so we now only have space for 4 more teams from our allocation. It may be possible to squeeze one or two more in depending on the response from the Legion side, but to make sure you don't miss out, please let me know in the next day or two if you are thinking about putting in a team in.

Slightly less good response to the call for raffle prizes...please do have a root around and see if you can't scare up or blag something from someone you know so we can have some good things to raffle and raise lots of money!

You can put Fiona and I down for a team - we'll be happy to be teamed up with anyone else who fancies it.

I'll see what we can do about a raffle prize as well.

So far we have 8 teams registered for Saturday's quiz. There are therefore still a couple of spaces left so it's not too late to enter a team. Also, one or two teams are looking for additional team members so, if you'd like to come along let me know and I can assign you to a team that isn't complete.

Let me know!

Thanks very much to those of you that have promised raffle prizes. Please bring them with you on the day or, if you won't be there, make sure I get them before the end of Friday.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Legion on Saturday 7.30pm.

A BIG THANKYOU to all the Harriers who turned up for the Quiz on Saturday at the Legion.

It was a really good night with a packed hall - 8 teams of 4 from Harriers and maybe 12 or 13 from the Legion Very Happy .

My team consisting of Muriel, Phil T and Gordon managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory Crying or Very sad . Leading by 4 points after the first 10 rounds we had a 'mare in the all-important picture round scoring a measly 13 out of 30 and allowing two teams to leapfrog us.

The leading Harriers team was Spandex Ballet (Wendy, Kaz, Al and Lawrence) who scooped the Quality Street for 2nd place. Very Happy

Another BIG THANKYOU to everyone that supplied raffle prizes. We had so many in the end we needed to find a bigger table to put them all on. Very Happy

This groaning board meant we sold out of raffle tickets and had to borrow a book from the Legion to satisfy demand.

All in all the evening raised £718 towards Ninewells Research on and treatment of GI and Pancreatic Cancer. A tremendous result and a very enjoyable and entertaining evening (even if all I took home was a jar of body butter!  Rolling Eyes  )
