Four Harriers made the trip to Tilicoultry for the Maddy Moss Hill Race. It's been one I've been meaning to do for a long time and I have to admit it was a nice one.
After a short climb and a steep descent down to the burn the main and fairly relentless climb begins to The Law. After that you've cracked it with only a bit of ridge run to Ben Cleuch and back to Andrew Gannel before a good fast descent and long sheep track traversing the hill back to the final steep and slippery descent to the finish: http://www.scottishhillracing.co.uk/Graphics/Maps/RA-0080-main.jpg.
I was hoping to get near to an hour for the race but serious lack of speed, confidence and race practice saw me full 5 1/2 minutes off this target finishing 46th in 1.05.32. Peter Hague was less than a couple of minutes behind in 55th and 1.07.17 and then James B (102nd 1.20.51) and Matt (108th 1.23.22) a wee bit further back than that.
All in all a good race and strongly recommended for next year since it's only 40 mins away and certainly a doable one for anyone that has enjoyed running Dumyat. And the good news is that it is an AM class race which qualifies it for the club championship...
