Can anyone offer a home to this gorgeous but daft Golden Retriever?

His name is Reeve and he's 8 years old.  He belonged to my aunt who has gone to Australia to "get a life" so I know his full history.  He's been with me since February (I am his legal owner) and until recently all our 3 dogs were getting along well.  But recently our youngest dog was chased and bitten by a neighbour's dogs and seems to be terrified of all male dogs now. Naturally Reeve is taking advantage of this and I have to keep the dogs apart which just isn't practical.

He is chipped but not neutered. He is a very sweet natured dog but defended my aunt when she was attacked by a Doberman and was hurt himself. He's very gentle, stubborn and very lazy.  He doesn't need (or like!) much exercise and sadly won't be able to be a running companion!  He had an op recently to repair a snapped cruciate ligament and has a bit of a limp.  He's also got some arthritis in his hip joints. He's a fussy eater. He barks at the postman and sometimes eats the mail if he's left alone with it.  He's never been around small children but I'd never leave any dog alone with kids anyway.

The first 7 years of his life were spent in a small 1 bedroomed flat and he was left alone all day while my aunt was at work.  He likes being with other dogs but is used to being alone.

If you know anyone who might be able to give him a happy home or want more info please let me know.
